Akar Haber: Spectra Is Starting a New Era
April 10, 2026Moving beyond the boundaries of classic home care and aerosol products and turning its course entirely toward innovative, vegan, nature-inspired personal care products, Spectra is getting ready to break the mold in the industry.
Shaped by the creative vision of the brand’s Co-Founder and Creative Director Betül Ünver, which guides every process from product development to packaging design and from R&D to marketing, the brand draws attention with its clean ingredients and sustainability goals that appeal to conscious consumers, especially Gen Z.
As the beauty and personal care industry transforms with the return to nature and the rise of clean ingredients, a brand-new brand story is being written, extending from Türkiye to the world. Founded on Betül Ünver’s discovery of Europe’s innovative approach to cosmetics during export-focused market research (Ünver is a graduate of Sabancı University’s Management Sciences program), Spectra places innovation and naturalness at the heart of personal care.
Aiming to develop products that are carefully formulated in the R&D kitchen, nature-inspired and vegan, instead of ordinary, low-value-added ones, the brand takes its name from the “spectrum,” which contains all the colors of light, and from the magical world of chemistry.
“Europe Defined Our Real Vision”
Co-Founder and Creative Director Betül Ünver, who tells the story of Spectra’s birth and the brand’s transformation, sums up how they read the market’s needs in these words: “When I first started in 2020, we were almost at square zero in the European market. When we entered this market through trade fairs and B2B platforms, our real vision was shaped by the rich product variety and high quality standards there. While we encountered more limited examples of innovation in Türkiye and neighboring regions, I saw how broad, creative and open to development personal care is in Europe.
At that moment, I decided we needed to move away from products with limited shelf value and toward innovative, well-formulated personal care products that make a difference. Spectra’s core vision is built on offering what doesn’t exist yet and developing long-lasting products with a sustainable and consistent approach to quality. The brand’s passion for innovation began precisely with this moment of realization.”
A Female Leader in the Kitchen of R&D: “We Don’t Just Produce, We Break the Mold”
Personally leading the brand’s R&D processes, Ünver emphasizes that Spectra’s greatest strength is its strong and constantly evolving research and development infrastructure: “For me, the essence of the brand lies in creating good ingredients and being innovative. We move forward not only with academic knowledge but by getting into the kitchen of the work, trying and improving formulas again and again. R&D is not just a department for us; it is the heart of the brand and the most critical structure that determines its direction. We develop our products by constantly following new raw materials, different formulation techniques and global trends closely.
One of the most concrete examples of this approach is our whipped shower foam. This product category, which is not yet widespread in Türkiye, offers a completely new approach in terms of both formulation and user experience. In every product, we consider an innovative perspective, high ingredient quality and user experience together. The vegan approach we adopt in ingredients and the inspiration we draw from nature are among the strongest elements that set us apart from other brands.”
Investing in Gen Z and the Future: Sustainability in Focus
Spectra’s target audience includes conscious consumers who question what they use and know how to read labels, especially Gen Z. Stating that they produce with the transparency to meet the expectations of young people and the mothers of the future, Ünver also emphasizes her sustainability vision in these words: “Our target is the mothers of the future and today’s Gen Z. They are extremely conscious and very open to clean ingredients. If we launch five new products, at least two of them have to be mold-breaking, innovative ones. This awareness applies not only to ingredients but also to packaging. One of the most important parts of our vision for the future is to repay our debt to nature by using 30% recyclable material in our plastic bottles.”
A Journey That Inspires Young People and Women
Touching on the importance, as a female entrepreneur, of being present not only in the showcase of the cosmetics industry but at every stage from the production line to fragrance design, Betül Ünver offers young people and aspiring entrepreneurs the following advice: “It doesn’t matter which department you graduated from; what matters is how you shape your life and your mind. University education is of course incredibly valuable, but success comes from taking that knowledge and working on projects again and again in the kitchen of the business, becoming one with the work. As a woman, being able to reflect aesthetics, colors and scents in formulas is a great advantage. At the foundation of my leadership approach is not just selling products but the real satisfaction the end consumer feels when using the product. My greatest personal motivation behind all this effort is to be a good role model for my son as an individual who stands on his own feet, produces and pushes boundaries.”
With its innovative R&D work, vegan ingredients and sustainable packaging goals, Spectra is moving forward with confident steps toward becoming the new representative of “good ingredients” and nature-inspired cosmetics, not only in the Turkish market but also on the global stage.
